School Life

We are a mixed school with approximately 1,000 students aged 11-18 years.

FHS students follow a curriculum that is engaging, exciting and tailored to the needs of each individual. To broaden and complement their studies we offer our students the opportunity to take part in a range of educational trips to museums, theatres and galleries at home and abroad. In recent years visits have taken place to London, the Lake District, France, Spain and Tenerife. Trips to Australia and Barbados are planned in the future.

Outside the classroom setting our students can immerse themselves in a wide range of exciting and rewarding extra-curricular activities including Duke of Edinburgh, various sports clubs and musical groups.  We work hard to involve ourselves and our students in the local area in a wide variety of ways, please visit our community pages to find out more.

Formby High School specialises in the performing arts and sciences. Our students enjoy access to seven fully equipped science laboratories and an outdoor conservation area. Our enhanced performing arts facilities now include a sound recording studio, a Yamaha keyboard room, a large music room with practice/rehearsal rooms and a drama workshop room.

The school has a national reputation for excellence in both of these fields.

We have an attractive campus close to the centre of the village of Formby and our buildings are a blend of old and new.

Our sixth form provision is based in a separate building with dedicated study areas and common spaces.
