Welcome from Mrs Fiona Grieveson – Chair of Governors

My name is Fiona Grieveson and I am in my second year as Chair of Governors, having served on the Governing Body for over five years as a Parent and Community Governor. I have one child attending the school and another who recently left Sixth Form.  As a parent I am both grateful and proud of the partnership I have had with the school and of the success and happiness both my children have experienced here. As a Governor, I am incredibly proud to lead such a dedicated, experienced group of Governors as we strive to ensure that all that makes Formby High School unique and so successful is nurtured and developed in the years to come.  We are fortunate to have Governors with a variety of skills and experience who are willing to give their time and commitment in support of the School.

The main functions of the Governing Body are to:

  • Ensure all students have an excellent education
  • Provide challenge and support to the Headteacher and staff
  • Represent parents and the local community
  • Ensure the school spends public funds responsibly

Governors carry out their responsibilities in a number of different ways, including visits during the school day, attending events such as concerts and sports fixtures, working closely with the Headteacher, Senior Leadership Team and staff, and attending formal Full Governing Body and committee meetings.

The Governing Body is made up of a variety of community, co-opted, parent and staff governors who each serve a four year term of office and are determined to support the staff of Formby High School in providing the best education and the safest learning environment for all students so they can fulfil their potential.

If you wish to contact me, or any of the Governors at Formby High School, or require copies of Governing Body minutes, please contact our Clerk to the Governing Body, Mrs Forster, either by email at or by telephone on 01704 835650.
