DANCE

Dance is a flourishing subject at both GCSE and BTEC. These courses involve practical, technical, theoretical and performance elements in a diverse range of dance styles. Students are encouraged to study dance history and composition, analyzing the work of leading choreographers and dance companies.
Our Dance Department supports the development of young choreographers at all levels and many students act as young dance leaders both in school and with local primary schools.
Our extensive extra-curricular programme offers year group dance clubs and specialist masterclasses for Key Stages Three and Four students as well as additional technique classes and workshops. We are particularly proud of our Sixth Form Dance Company, who have been successful in the national U:Dance festival and have performed several times at The Lowry in Salford, and at the national event in Leeds.
We are fortunate to have developed close partnerships with many leading dance companies and specialists including Rambert, Matthew Bourne & Dancers, Stomp, Ludus, The Lowry, MDI, as well as ‘west end’ professionals.
