RECORD A LEVEL RESULTS 2025

Formby High School Celebrates Yet Another Record-Breaking Year!

Formby High School is once again celebrating exceptional A-Level results in 2025, building further on the record-breaking outcomes achieved last year. The achievements of the ‘Class of 2025’ are just reward for students’ hard work and commitment alongside the exceptional support they received from staff at the school.

Key highlights include:

  • Best ever average A-Level grades: performance in academic qualifications has resulted in students reaching an average of Grade B in A-Level examinations.
  • Continued success in securing top grades: 13% of all entries achieved an A* or Distinction*, with 38% entries achieving A*/A or equivalent overall. An impressive 17% students achieved at least three A grades (or equivalent).
  • Exceptional outcomes in both academic and vocational qualifications: Half of all A-Level students secured AAB or above, with over three-quarters of all entries graded at B or better. Overall, nine in ten entries were graded at C or above, with an overall pass rate of 100%. Students studying applied and vocational courses gained the highest points per pupil on record, achieving an average grade of Distinction.
  • Top university and apprenticeship destinations: 86% of students secured their first-choice place at university, with a large number taking up offers from prestigious universities and Russell Group institutions around the country. Students will pursue further studies in a wide range of fields including Medicine and Veterinary Science, Law, Business, Teaching, Engineering, Music and the Arts. We are also delighted with the continuing increase in students moving onto high-quality degree-level apprenticeships in areas such as engineering, accountancy and law at organisations such as Laing O’Rourke, Jaguar Land Rover and Sellafield.

Mr David Pearson, Chair of Trustees, expressed his pride in the students’ accomplishments. On behalf of the Board of Trustees, he commended the collaborative efforts of teachers, parents, and the entire school community in nurturing students to fulfil their potential.

Mr Alex Wood, Headteacher, praised the students’ determination to achieve commenting:

Once again our students have done themselves and our school proud. These outstanding results have been achieved through students’ ambition and hard work and with the support of our very talented and highly committed team of staff. Everyone at Formby High School is delighted with our students’ achievements and we wish them every success as they take their next steps, whether that be into university, apprenticeships or employment.
