Our Open Evening theme this year ‘Stand Under our Umbrella’, reflects our community spirit and one of our ‘super powers’: bringing people together to feel happy, supported, safe and part of Team Formby High.  For the evening, we tasked each of our curriculum areas to personalise an umbrella with their ‘subject super powers’ which can be acquired across our newly refreshed curriculum.  Visitors had the opportunity to participate in a Treasure Hunt to seek out clues on the umbrellas to enter a prize draw.  Our showcase finale involved a colourful performance from students across our Dance, Drama and Musical Theatre clubs to Rhianna’s hit song ‘Umbrella’.

The British weather decided to get in on the act when the heavens opened, leaving many of our visitors needing umbrellas!  However, this did not deter them from coming in their hundreds, and what a fantastic evening we enjoyed with students from across Formby and beyond.

A former student brought his younger sibling along to look around and told us

“It’s like coming home!”

Our Student Ambassadors did brilliantly, with one parent writing in today to say

“They were outstanding with their information, very friendly and they were extremely proud of being pupils at your school – they answered all our questions and even managed to help my very shy daughter do some quizzes in science!”

Check out some of the memories captured in our images below.

Whilst Open Evening is over, prospective students and their parents are welcome to come and have a look around Formby High School during a normal working day.  Please call the school office (01704 873100) or email: [email protected] to book your appointment!
