WORLD BOOK DAY AT FHS

This week, along with other schools across the world, we have celebrated 25 Years of World Book Day. Students in Years 7 and 8 have taken part in an inter-form competition to see who uses the Library the most, as well as taking part in various Library competitions and entering designing a National Book Token. We have watched WBD celebrations from Cambridge Theatre London with the cast of Matilda as well as watching authors and illustrators with their inspiring and creative films. World Book Day £1 book tokens can still be collected from the Library.

Bronze Arts Award and Musical Theatre Club students also celebrated World Book Day by visiting Formby Library to perform pieces from ‘Wicked’ and their forthcoming musical ‘Matilda JR’ to an audience of children in Year 1 and 2 from Redgate School. The infants enjoyed watching and joined in with singing, acting and dance workshops organised and led by our students. It was both educational and entertaining to watch the stories and characters pop to life from the pages of books to performance. Many thanks to Formby Library for hosting the event which was a great success. The full performance of ‘Matilda JR’ takes place on the 29 and 30 April at Formby High School Drama Studio; tickets will be available soon.
