Miss Hill and Mrs Hannaway have just returned from a recent visit to Uganda, working alongside a group from St Peter’s Church in Formby who have been supporting the development programme of the village school in Lawero. The group spent their recent visit renovating classrooms, playing sport and working alongside the women of the village to teach them new skills like knitting. The students at Kalule School received over 200 pencil cases from students in FHS and a pen pal scheme has now been set up between the two schools. Miss Hill and Mrs Hannaway also gave the school a large, hand-painted picture of FHS bearing messages of friendship from staff and students – this picture now hangs proudly on one of the classroom walls at Kalule. Miss Hill and Mrs Hannaway said that the trip was very rewarding and they look forward to hearing about the progress of this fantastic five year project and all the new friendships between the pen-pals of our two schools.
