Former FHS student, Emily Merrill, kindly came to meet with Year 13 English Language and Literature students this week to talk to them about her experiences as a writer. The students have to write their own short stories as part of their coursework and Emily was on hand with advice and suggestions for them. Emily, who has just had her first novel ‘Mine’ published in November, was very keen to encourage the aspirations of future writers at FHS. She said, “All the way through my time at FHS I aspired to be a writer (I remember asking one of the English teachers to give me some feedback on my short stories at the time!), and wanted the opportunity to come back to the school and speak to students who may have the same aspirations.” We are incredibly grateful to Emily for giving her time back to FHS and want to wish her continued success in the literary world!
