Formby High School’s trademark creative flair has been in full swing in and around school recently. Upper Dance Master Class were selected to perform at the Merseyside Dance Initiative for the 2018 Merseyside Schools Dance platform which celebrates talent from the Liverpool region and included over 20 schools and sixth form colleges. This year the theme was ‘A Night at the Movies’ and Master Class performed their sensational piece ‘Into The Woods’ to a packed audience. GCSE Music and Dance students visited the Liverpool Empire to watch a performance of the critically acclaimed ‘Wicked’ to support their exam preparations. As part of their enrichment, Year 12 Dance and Arts Award students visited Edge Hill with Mrs Harrocks to explore the Costume Department and to see live show rehearsals. Our Musical Theatre Club had a studio recording session with Mr Heatherington for their forthcoming show called ‘Showstoppers’. Finally, our dancers travelled to the U:Dance North West Regional Finals at The Lowry Theatre, Manchester, on 25 March and we eagerly await announcements of those teams who will progress to the national finals. The creativity continues in the art rooms where GCSE and A Level examinations have begun and masterpieces are in the making – good luck to all our artists!
