Students at Formby High School study RESPECT as a dedicated PSHEE and Citizenship programme. RESPECT covers important areas for young people growing up in a modern society, such as looking after our physical and mental health, how to recognise healthy and unhealthy relationships, staying safe online and financial education.  RESPECT also includes lessons on specific areas such as Drugs Education, Relationships and Sex Education and Careers Education. Citizenship forms a central part of our RESPECT curriculum, with students learning about topics like how the country is governed at a local and national level, aspects of the law which relate to them and about the ways in which people can engage in democratic processes and take action to promote their views and help others. Lessons foster an understanding of the UK as a diverse society and the importance of mutual respect and tolerance. Students are actively encouraged to think of others and contribute to the wider community and whole school projects. Students develop a wide range of skills through their RESPECT lessons, such as co-operative working and speaking and listening.
