On 17 June Formby High School welcomed the new Year 7 students joining us in September for their Induction Day. The students had an action-packed day starting with a welcome assembly and a Harry Potter-style ‘sorting hat’ announcement of the tutor groups for September. The morning was spent with their new friends in their tutor groups and enjoying taster lessons in a wide range of subjects. At lunchtime the whole year group came together to sample the popular school lunch menu before having an afternoon of PE lessons in the sunshine. In the end of day assembly, students were left with the message to embrace every opportunity they are given at FHS, enjoy every moment and share the high hopes and expectations we have for them.
Mr Cook, Assistant Headteacher, who led on the induction day, commented “The enthusiasm, energy and ambition of this cohort is amazing and we have very high hopes for their future at FHS. The Form Tutors, who will remain with them until Year 11, were delighted to meet their tutees and start this exciting new chapter together.”
On 22 June, it was the parents’ turn to come in and join the family for an information evening to help them support their child’s smooth transition from primary to secondary school. Mr Mackenzie commented “This is always one of my favourite evenings. Whilst we met the majority of these parents at Open Evening in September, it is always wonderful to welcome them formally to the family and begin the important partnership we will nurture for at least the next five years.”
To continue our warm FHS welcome, we are looking forward to seeing both our future and current Year 7 students and families for a Family Garden Party next Wednesday evening at FHS (29 June 2016) hosted by our amazing Friends of Formby High School PTA!
