Going for Gold

Last week, 24 Year 12 students completed their Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Gold Practice Expedition in North Yorkshire with the help of one of our expedition providers YCP. This is the first time in two years that students have completed an expedition after many of them participated in their Silver Award during Year 10. Students completed their five day expedition, walking up to 15km a day and camping in a number of campsites across Settle and Langcliffe. They were praised for their attitude, determination and resilience to overcome the challenges they faced, particularly the wet weather across the expedition and the number of blisters some of them picked up! YCP said “Students were a pleasure to work with and were polite and respectful. We have no doubt they will be successful in the qualifying expedition with the attitude they displayed.” Well done to all our students and good luck completing your Qualifying Expedition in June.
