FHS TEST CENTRE

The FHS Test Centre was first established in January 2021 offering a fully operational on-site asymptomatic testing service for all staff and students.  The FHS Test Centre is managed by Ms Butterworth supported by a team of fully trained operatives and is ready to open as and when government guidance or local circumstances require.

Test Centre plans for January 2022

In order to reduce the risk of transmission and support the continuation of face-to-face education, the government has asked all schools to make the necessary arrangements for all staff and students to receive one Covid-19 test in school upon their return to school in January 2022.  After receiving their on-site test, students will be asked to continue with their twice weekly home testing routine.  The government will continue to review the future need for testing in light of any changes to the public health situation.

What type of test is being used?

The FHS Test Centre is using Lateral Flow Device (LFD) tests which provide quick and effective results. To find out more about LFD tests and how these work, please visit this Public Health Matters page on gov.uk.

Consent for testing

The school will only test staff/students who have confirmed consent to do so.

  • For students under 16, parental consent is required.
  • Students 16 or over can consent directly.

The school has written to parents of children under the age of 16 and to students aged 16 and over to seek their consent for testing upon return to school in January 2022 (see the Key Information section at the side of this webpage for links to these letters).  Even if parents/students have previously indicated consent during the school year, we are requesting an up to date confirmation for the new school year.

On the sidebar to the right of this page you will find links to correspondence shared with students and parents regarding consent and Privacy Notices confirming the data protection arrangements involved.

We receive a number of queries regarding LFD testing for students who have had a positive PCR in the last 90 days.  Please find our response to this information here.

Positive results

If an individual receives a positive LFD result in the FHS Test Centre, they will be required to self-isolate and seek a confirmatory PCR test. If this PCR confirms the positive result, they must self-isolate for a period of 10 days as per the current Government guidance.  If the confirmatory PCR returns a negative result, they may return to school immediately.
