Welcome to Formby High School where high expectations in terms of learning and behaviour means that all students flourish.
The school motto is ‘determined to achieve’ and, through hard work, encouragement and the appropriate guidance, our young people do achieve academic excellence. They are also challenged to participate and excel in a wide range of extra-curricular activities, including the creative arts, sport, community service and the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award. Our students’ ambitions and aspirations are nurtured, and their pastoral welfare and personal development are at the core of all we do. They follow a curriculum that is exciting, engaging and tailored to the needs of each individual; a curriculum that allows all students to leave with outstanding qualifications and the confidence and skills required to pursue further study or enter the world of work. Students at Formby High School also develop a keen sense of their responsibility in shaping a better future for themselves and their community, and are recognised and rewarded for the positive contribution they make.
Formby High School is an ‘Outstanding’ (Ofsted, 2008) school. Whilst there is an emphasis on the Creative Arts, and the school has a national reputation for exceptional art, music, drama and dance, this is just one of many areas where excellence is consistently delivered and the school is very proud to have maintained its status as an ‘Outstanding’ school for nine years. The school is thriving and ambitious in all that it does, and has achieved sustained excellence in academic achievement, attendance, behaviour and extra-curricular pursuits. Your child will be provided an environment which will enable him/her to achieve and, whether through the curriculum, enrichment activities or the extensive range of school trips, pursue opportunities which he/she will find enjoyable, challenging and highly rewarding. We were very proud to have been named Secondary School of the Year at the 2016 Liverpool Echo Schools Awards in recognition of our outstanding provision.
Formby High School is privileged to have a highly skilled and committed Board of Governors that works tirelessly to support the school and challenge all of us to exceed expectations in all we do. The quality and capacity of their involvement with the school was recognised with the ‘Governor Mark’ quality mark in 2014.
In entrusting the care and education of your children to us, you will be giving them the opportunity to make their own unique contribution to our community and, in turn, to draw on all that we offer to prepare them for their journey through life. I hope you find our prospectus useful and, should you wish to do so, you are welcome to visit the school in person.
